The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Hyderabad commenced with a mission to deliver public health education, pursue research and advocacy and support policy development. It lays strong emphasis on pursuing public health policy, practice, training and research, positioning its programmes according to the public health priorities of the state and the nation. The institute has brought together a highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained and extremely motivated public health academics and practitioners. It aims to create an environment that supports excellence in instruction, research and practice. The Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad (IIPH-H) as an arm of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) aims to strengthen Public Health in India. The governance of IIPH Hyderabad is managed by a locally empowered society called the Institute of Public Health Sciences Hyderabad (IPHSH).

PANPREP-The Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla Centre for Infectious Diseases and Pandemic Preparedness at IIPHH embodies the Institute’s commitment to advancing infectious disease research. The Centre aims to serve as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and translation of scientific knowledge into practical health solutions. It will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, and young scientists to drive pioneering studies, adopt cutting-edge technologies, and strengthen India’s capacity to prevent and manage infectious diseases of global concern

1. Legal and Governance Analysis for Pandemic Preparedness: 

  • Map legal mandates of ministries (Health, Agriculture, Environment, Home Affairs, etc.).
  • Develop a governance and accountability matrix.
  • Draft model coordination frameworks consistent with national laws.

2. Legal Frameworks for One Health Governance:

  • Analyse existing legal and institutional arrangements governing human, animal, and environmental health sectors.
  • Develop model district-level governance templates to support operationalisation of One Health coordination mechanisms.
  • Identify regulatory and administrative reforms required to strengthen cross-sectoral data sharing and decision-making
  • Contribute to mainstreaming interdisciplinary and rights-based approaches to One Health within national policy discourse.

    3. International Health Law and Global Health Governance

     

  • Conduct assessment of India’s performance under global health frameworks and international obligations.

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health Law, Health Policy, International Health Law, or related field.

Desirable:

  • Specialisation in public health law, international health governance, or human rights law.

Essential: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in public health policy, legal research, or governance analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy drafting, legal review, or regulatory analysis.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with government agencies.
  • Experience in stakeholder consultations and multi-sector coordination.
  • Knowledge of the International Health Regulations (2005), the proposed Pandemic Treaty, and other relevant global health agreements.
