The Master of Public Health (MPH) program offered at Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad (IIPHH) is a two-year full-time program affiliated to Kaloji Narayana Rao (KNR) University, Telangana.
The course is designed as a 2-year full-time on-campus program, spanning four academic semesters for a of total 80 credits, including internship and dissertation. One semester usually last for 16-18 weeks and one credit is equivalent to one hour of lecture OR two hours of practical/laboratory/fieldwork per week for the semester. The student must choose a track (among the existing four tracks) for specialisation during the third semester. Biostatistics & Data Management, Non-communicable Disease Epidemiology, Public Health Disability and Public Health Surveillance are the offered four tracks at IIPHH. A live project work is inbuilt into each of the tracks. The first three semesters include classroom-based, face to face teaching, tutorials and practicals (field work, computer lab and community based public health activities). The final semester includes 6 months for dissertation work.
The student needs to successfully complete the coursework and the dissertation to be awarded the MPH degree. Students are encouraged to undertake internships during summer/ winter breaks between semesters, both in the government sector and NGO/CSR foundations. Placement cell will assist and facilitate the placement of students.
